Two pregnant women and an eight-year-old child have both been confirmed to be among the six people killed.
The victims were struck during the La Coruña Rally, by a race car when its driver – reported to be local man Sergio Tabeayo – lost control. The rally took place in the Spanish municipality of Carral, north west of Spain.
Footage of the crash shows the moment the car skids across the dirt track before ploughing into a group of roughly 20 spectators (centre), sending them flying into the air.
Sixteen people were injured, out of which six were seriously injured.
The race was immediately suspended in the aftermath, with police warning that the death toll is likely to rise. Emergency services remain on the scene supporting the victims and their families.
